Wrong.
I'm not sure where I got the idea that my life would some how slow down but I was clearly wrong. So before I get further behind I'm going to post the three reviews right now and I'm sorry that they many not be very long or detailed but to be frank, I'm tired and at this point I just want to get these out of the way!
Here we go:
The first book is Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo with Lynn Vincent. This book was a recommendation from a friend who said I needed to read it. So I did, and I'm glad I did because it is a touching true story.
Colton Burpo, Todd Burpo's son, has an amazing account of heaven. When he was four he had to go in for surgery and in that surgery he says that he died and went to heaven. He survives the surgery and afterward tells his family things he couldn't know while he was under anesthesic. This book is, as you can see, written by Colton's father and it is through his eyes that we learn what Colton experienced and that heaven is for real. A beautiful life story and read.
The second book I read was for my book club (which I never went to this past week because we had just been away and I wanted to stay home). It was The Sisters Brothers by Patrick de Witt and I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed. I did like that it was a western but I guess I was under the impression that it would be very humorous. It was witty sometimes but mostly very, very dry. It is also supposed to be a Canadian book BUT the author doesn't even live in Canada anymore, he lives in the States! I'm not sure who regulates these things...
The third book I read was Prairie Feast: A Writer's Journey Home for Dinner by Amy Jo Ehman is a legit Canadian book (in my terms and conditions). It is non-fiction and is about the author's journey about eating locally in Saskatchewan. Her stories about her adventures on discovering food all around her will make you laugh and the recipes in between will make you drool. It's a worthwhile read if you've heard about eating locally or within a 100 mile radius from where you live.
And now I think I'm done... at least until next time...
